Juventus are reportedly reviving their interest in young Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei, according to Tuttosport. The Italian club is exploring a potential deal with the Blues.
The Bianconeri could also take Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell to replace the injured Juan Cabal.
Casadei has struggled for regular playing time at Chelsea under manager Enzo Maresca. Since returning from loan spells at Reading and Leicester City, he has been limited to sporadic appearances, mainly in the Conference League and EFL Cup.
The highly-rated 20-year-old joined Chelsea in 2022 and showed glimpses of his talent. But he finds himself stuck behind Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Even when he has played for the Blues, he has been chucked into a deeper role in midfield, which does not favour him, considering his best asset is his ability to arrive in the box late and finish off chances.
Juventus, who had previously shown interest in Casadei last season, see an opportunity to acquire the talented midfielder at a reasonable price. The Serie A giants are eager to bolster their midfield options and believe Casadei could be a valuable asset for the future.
However, the deal is not expected to materialise immediately. Juventus are taking a patient approach. They want to assess Chelsea’s willingness to part ways with the young Italian. They could also face competition from Fiorentina and Lazio, who have previously shown interest.
As for Chilwell, the English left-back has been linked with a move to Juventus as a potential reinforcement due to the many injuries in their rearguard.
The Italian club is keen to strengthen their defensive options and believes Chilwell could be the ideal candidate. The former Leicester star is behind Marc Cucurella and Renato Veiga and will be desperate for playing time.
Chelsea are open to discussing potential deals involving Casadei and Chilwell as they look to trim their bloated squad.
