Rangers picked up a crucial point in the Europa League away from Ibrox on Thursday night against Olympiakos.
The Gers came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against the Greek giants, and they have picked up seven points already.
This has been a brilliant week for the Scottish clubs. Celtic won 3-1 against RB Leipzig in the Champions League, and now Rangers have picked up a fantastic point away from home against a strong side in a hostile environment.
Cyriel Dessers scored the equaliser for the Bears with a brilliant effort that involved a dummy after Ayoub El Kaabi gave the home side the lead in the second half.
There were some strong performances from several Gers players, and one of them who did impress on the night was Nicolas Raskin.
Nicolas Raskin was superb v Olympiakos
The Scottish press has praised the 23-year-old midfielder heavily. The Daily Record has given him an 8/10 rating and described his performance as “superb”.
The newspaper wrote: “Finally showed glimpses of player the Ibrox fans suspect he can be with his touch and poise. Getting fitter by the week and it’s showing in his performances. Continually looked to take on his man. Played in Dessers early on.”
They are absolutely spot-on with their assessment. When the Belgian midfielder first arrived, he was expected to make a huge impact at Ibrox, but that didn’t happen.
He has only been able to show glimpses of his quality in bits and parts, and there was a lack of continuity, which has frustrated everyone.
Rangers fans hope that he will now discover his true potential and will continue to produce such performances on a regular basis.
The midfielder made 81 touches and played out 55 passes, managing a 75% accuracy rate.
In defence, he helped his teammates out by making seven tackles and four interceptions. He also made one clearance and blocked one effort.
He committed the most fouls (five) out of any player on the pitch, won three aerial duels and eight ground duels, and made four key passes as well.
