Predicted Rangers starting line-up v Nice

Rangers are in action in the Europa League on Thursday night as they face Nice away from Ibrox.

The Gers dropped further points in the Scottish Premiership last week, drawing 1-1 against Dundee United at Ibrox, and the pressure is mounting on Philippe Clement.

Rangers are struggling badly at the moment and need a big performance away from home in Europe to bring back some semblance of positivity.

Nice sit below the Bears in the league table, but given the kind of form Rangers are in, it is hard to predict how would they fare.

Ianis Hagi and Danilo were brilliant in their last game, but they are not available for the trip to France.

Here’s the predicted line-up.

Goalkeeper

Jack Butland is the first-choice keeper at the club, and his position is not under any threat.

Defence

This is where Clement needs to make some big calls. Should he start with James Tavernier? Dujon Sterling started last weekend, and Clement might drop him, given some important games are coming up in December. In that case, Tavernier, who has badly underperformed this season, could come into the side.

Robin Propper was also a surprise starter in the previous game, but Leon Balogun should be given another chance in the centre-back role alongside Souttar.

Midfielder

Nico Raskin and Connor Barron are undroppable at the moment and the pair should continue in the middle of the park. But who will be the third midfielder? Mohamed Diomande, 23, does not deserve to start and he’s been awful recently. Nadim Bajrami is a versatile player and he can slot in there.

Attack

Cyriel Dessers remains the best option up front for Rangers, and he will start. Vaclav Cerny and Ross McCausland should be on the flanks against Nice.

Predicted Rangers starting XI v Nice: Butland; Balogun, Souttar, Tavernier, Jefte; Barron, Raskins, Bajrami; Cerny, McCausland, Dessers.
