Liverpool Aiming to Power Clear of Man City

Liverpool went into the November international break in a buoyant mood after rattling off three consecutive victories at the start of the month.

An impressive victory in the Champions League over Bayer Leverkusen was sandwiched in between league successes against Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa.

The two Premier League victories moved Liverpool five points ahead of Manchester City, who were beaten by Bournemouth and Brighton in their last two games.

While Liverpool manager Arne Slot was pleased with the results, he urged his players not to get too carried away with their recent performances.

“We play so many games in all these competitions against so many strong opponents, so hopefully we will have a lot of these weeks to come because these weeks are mostly big if you are competing for something and that is what we are doing at the moment,” Slot said.

“We are competing, trying to compete for the league, trying to compete for the Champions League and trying to compete for the cups we are in as well.

“We also know it’s a long season where we have to continuously be on top of our game because the likes of Arsenal, City and Chelsea and all these other clubs are able to win just as many games as we did in the first 15 to 16 games.

“So, we have to stay on top of our game, which is never going to be easy but we’ll push for it as much as we can.”

Guardiola Tips City to Bounce Back to Form

While Liverpool have been basking in the glory of a positive run of results, Man City had to contend with the shock of losing four consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Injuries to key players have not helped their cause in recent weeks, and the international break has undoubtedly come at a good time for the club.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola should have a stronger squad at his disposal when the Premier League resumes and he is confident results will improve.

Suffering four defeats in a row is an unusual concept for City, but the Spaniard insists his players will bounce back to form over the next few weeks.

“I know that after you win, everything is perfect. For example, against Fulham we won but we played miles worse than against Brighton and at Sporting Lisbon and at Spurs,” Guardiola said.

“We performed really well, but we were not consistent enough to maintain this level that helped us win what we have won for many years.

“Hopefully in the future it will come back and if it not come back. We will learn from that and if we are not able to win, we will work to come back and that is what it is about.

“Right now, we are not at our best, but hopefully we’ll come back and step by step do it. I have the feeling every game will be tough and the team has to recover to our best and we will see.”

Liverpool vs Manchester City – Prediction

Man City will head to Liverpool knowing that another defeat would blow a sizeable hole in their bid to win a fifth consecutive Premier League title.

Both meetings between the two sides last season finished as draws, and it would be no surprise if there is a similar outcome this time around.
