Crystal Palace will be looking to make some additions in the January transfer window, and bringing a quality winger to Selhurst Park could be a priority.
The Eagles lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, and they have not adequately bolstered their wing department.
Ismaila Sarr, who joined Palace in the summer window, enjoyed his best football for the club last Saturday against Aston Villa.
He scored his first goal for the Eagles and provided an assist as Oliver Glasner’s side earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw away to Aston Villa.
Glasner was elated with Sarr’s performance after the game, but he would definitely want another quality winger to the side in January.
Crystal Palace eye move for French winger
Having scored only ten goals this season, it is not hard to guess where Palace should focus on investing in January.
Despite sitting 19th in the Premier League table, Glasner retains the support of Palace hierarchy.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, Palace are keen to sign Lyon “magician” Rayan Cherki in January.
The Eagles view him as a “missing link”, and they hope John Textor can help with the deal.
Lyon are under orders to raise cash or be relegated next season, and they could offload Cherki for around £20 million.
Scouts from Crystal Palace were in attendance to watch the 21-year-old winger in action in the 1-1 draw against Reims.
Nixon says that the final decision will lie with the attacker, and he may not be interested in moving to Selhurst Park because of Palace’s position in the table.
Cherki would be a terrific signing for the Eagles
The Frenchman is a fantastic player, and he is a joy to watch. He has outstanding dribbling abilities, and Textor could play a key role in sorting fees between the clubs.
He loves to cut inside from the right flank and then shoot with his favourite left foot and should be perfect in Glasner’s system.
Palace could compete with Premier League rivals Liverpool, and Cherki could be tempted to join the Reds.
