Crystal Palace have made a poor start to the 2024/25 campaign and big improvements are needed at Selhurst Park to turn the situation around.
The Eagles have won only once in 11 Premier League games and find themselves in the drop zone.
Oliver Glasner is under a lot of pressure to keep his job, but he retains the support of the Palace hierarchy.
Palace have missed some of their key players due to injuries, and it has hampered their performances.
Many pundits have also pointed out that the summer signings have badly unperformed (Eddie Nketiah, for instance) for Palace, and the club have properly failed to replace players like Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen.
Glasner needs more quality players in his squad, and he could be backed by the owners with funds in the January transfer window.
Steve Parish plans to spend in the January window
According to Alan Nixon, Palace supremo Steve Parish and his American allies are looking to spend in the next transfer window.
The forward department needs bolstering, and the Eagles could be looking to sign a “couple of attackers” in January.
It is also an attempt from Parish to force majority shareholder John Textor “to cough up or clear out”.
As per their agreement, Textor is bound to pay “his share of anything they spend,” and his holding at Selhurst Park will be diluted if he fails to do that.
Textor was keen to quit Palace and buy Everton, but Farhad Moshiri decided to sell his shares to the Friedkin Group instead.
Tough fixtures lie ahead
Palace will face Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Ipswich Town, Manchester City, Brighton, and Arsenal in their next few games in the Premier League.
It will require a massive effort to get something from those games, and Glasner will need some of his key players to return from injuries as soon as possible.
Tony Cascarino fears that Palace could face the prospect of relegation, but a few good results could change the mood around the club completely.
