Richard Keys has backed Frank Lampard to replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United.
The Spaniard is on borrowed time at the London Stadium after taking just 11 points from ten games.
West Ham’s succession plan for David Moyes is being derailed, and Lopetegui could be out of a job before December if results do not improve.
The Hammers appeared to be turning a corner when they snatched three points against a beleaguered Manchester United side barely a week ago.
Crysencio Summerville stunned the Old Trafford crowd into silence when he gave West Ham the lead in the 74th minute.
A late penalty from Jarrod Bowen sealed all three points for Lopetegui’s side, rendering Casemiro’s late equaliser a mere consolation.
However, they failed to build on the shocking victory in their subsequent game against the in-form Nottingham Forest, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side running out 3-0 winners at City Ground.
Chris Wood opened the scoring in the first half, Callum Hudson-Odoi gave them a two-goal cushion just after the hour mark before Ola Aina wrapped up the three points with a thunderous strike.
Defeat against Forest was West Ham’s fifth of the season, and Keys believes the Hammers are the architects of their own downfall.
The sports presenter then tipped former Chelsea and Everton manager Lampard to succeed Lopetegui in the near future.
“West Ham’s problems are all of their own making, and I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for them,” Keys wrote on his website.
“It’ll get worse there before it gets better. They’re certainly going in another direction since forcing David Moyes out.
“It’s just not the one they wanted to go in. Frank Lampard?”
Lampard has been out of a job since his 11-game run as Chelsea’s interim manager back in 2023 and has been linked with a move to Serie A giants AS Roma.
West Ham host Everton in their final game before November’s international break, and another defeat for the Hammers could be the final straw in Lopetegui’s ill-fated spell.
