Rangers returned to winning ways after their horror performance at Ibrox last week by defeating French side Nice 4-1 in the Europa League away from home.
Hamza Igamane scored twice and provided another assist as the Gers registered a famous win away from Ibrox on Thursday night.
The 22-year-old Rangers striker received loads of praise from the media for his brilliant performance. The Daily Record gave him a 9/10 rating.
Former Gers striker Steven Thompson was full of praise for Igamane after he scored the fourth goal for the Scottish giants.
Nice were shocking at the back, and Igamane was quick to pounce on the mistakes. Thompson praised Igamane for showing “unbelievable” composure and described the goal as a “wonderful” finish.
However, he was stunned by how poor Nice were at the back. Pablo Rosario passed the ball straight to Igamane, who hit the ball coolly into the bottom-right corner.
He said, as quoted by BBC Sport: “You’ve got too give Igamane so much credit. Unbelievable composure and accuracy from him. A wonderful finish.
“But oh my goodness, the defending. I’m not sure I’ve seen four worse goals conceded by a team – ever.”
Rangers are severely lacking consistency
The Gers have done incredibly well so far in European games, but they have been terribly poor in the domestic league.
Rangers will face Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in their next two Europa League games, and they end the group stage campaign against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
Neil McCann has rightly pointed out that it is their problems in the league that are far more concerning. Philippe Clement must find the balance to win consistently in the league and close the gap with Celtic.
It appears that Rangers are struggling against teams who are dropping deep and playing low blocks.
Nevertheless, it is an incredible result for Rangers, and they must fancy their chances of finishing in the top eight.
