West Ham keen to sign Brazilian striker Igor Jesus

West Ham United were one of the busiest clubs during the summer transfer window as they splashed over £120 million to bring in nine new players.

But despite their summer splurge, the Hammers have had a disappointing 2024-25 season so far, winning just three of their 10 games to be 14th in the table.

West Ham lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest in their latest fixture on Saturday after goals from Chris Wood, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ola Aina.

The Hammers look in need of a quality striker at the moment. They brought in Niclas Fullkrug last summer but the German is currently sidelined with injury.

They also have Michail Antonio and Danny Ings on their books but neither are capable centre-forwards.

According to a report from The Sun, West Ham are interested in signing Botafogo striker Igor Jesus in a £30m move.

The two clubs could look for a shock swap deal that would see Lucas Paqueta return to Brazil.

Jesus joined Botafogo in July after a near four-year stint in the United Arab Emirates.

The 23-year-old has hit the ground running in Brazil, scoring eight goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.

Botafogo are prepared to let Jesus leave but only at the right price.

Any club signing Paqueta would take the risk of possible future action, with the FA pushing for a lifetime ban for his betting rule breaches.

However, the Brazilian club are reportedly ready to take the attacking midfielder despite the risks.
