When will Edu start working at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are flying high in the Premier League at the moment.

They have started the 2024/25 season strongly and are third in the Premier League table under Nuno Espirito Santo.

It could get even better for them as there could be some major news regarding appointments coming their way, and Evangelos Marinakis is keen to bring Edu to the club.

Edu is set to leave the role of Sporting director at Arsenal, and he could join Forest once he is released from his duties at the Emirates Stadium.

According to a report from The Athletic, the Brazilian is likely to take up a role working with the group of teams controlled by Marinakis.

Marinakis owns Forest in the Premier League, Olympiacos of Greece and Portugal’s Rio Ave, and Edu will have a larger control should he move to Arsenal’s Premier League rivals.

Edu will be a terrific appointment for Nottingham Forest

The report adds that Edu will start working for Forest as soon as he is released by Arsenal. As of now, he has yet to sign a contract at City Ground, and his exact role at the club has yet to be finalised.

The Athletic notes: “Sources with knowledge of the situation, who are not authorized to speak publicly, anticipate Edu starting work for the 57-year-old as soon as he is released from his duties at the Emirates Stadium.”

In his first full season at Trentside, Nuno has made a bright start, and he will definitely benefit from having a leader like Edu with him to help him recruit some top players.

Edu has done wonders at the north London club since taking the role of technical director in 2019 and later becoming the sporting director in 2022.

He played an instrumental role in signing players like Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard and made Arsenal one of the title challengers after years of mediocrity.

It would be a massive statement of intent if Forest could bring Edu to the boardroom. Forest did well in the summer transfer window, but Edu can take them to the next level.
