Tottenham Hotspur have been hit with injuries this season, and they suffered yet another blow against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Thursday evening.
Ange Postecoglou’s side went down 1-0 to Bournemouth away from home at the Vitality Stadium. Dean Huijsen scored the only goal of the game in the 17th minute.
It came from a corner and left former Tottenham player and talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara really disappointed with the visiting team’s defending.
Tottenham suffered an injury blow as well. Ben Davies went off in the 62nd minute. The Wales international was deployed at centre-back in a 4-3-3 formation.
Ben Davies injury blow for Tottenham Hotspur
Postecoglou has said that the 31-year-old, who can also play at left-back, will be on the sidelines for a long time because of the hamstring injury he suffered against Bournemouth.
Football.London quotes Postecoglou as saying about Davies: “Yeah it looked like he’s done his hamstring.
“He and Radu have had to play every game and it’s a consequence of having the squad we do. It looks like he’ll be out for a while now.”
Tottenham hit with injuries
While you cannot blame Tottenham’s struggles this season on injuries, it must be noted that the North London club have a number of their key players on the sidelines at the moment.
Guglielmo Vicario will be out for months after ankle surgery, Richarlison has a hamstring injury and so has Micky van de Ven, while Cristian Romero is on the sidelines with a toe issue.
Mikey Moore has been ill, while Wilson Odobert is out with a hamstring injury.
However, Spurs need to do better. Tottenham are way down in 10th place in the Premier League table and have conceded 15 goals in 14 league games.
The positive for Spurs is that they are only six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City. A top-four place is very much possible for the North London club, but results and performances need to improve.
