Chris Sutton predicts Newcastle United to secure victory over Manchester United

Newcastle United visit Old Trafford on Monday to take on Manchester United, and the St. James’ Park club will be desperate to continue their recent brilliant run by making it four consecutive Premier League victories for the first time this season.

On the other hand, the Red Devils will be keen to avoid a fourth straight defeat in all competitions following losses at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Chris Sutton does not see them picking up any points against Newcastle.

The BBC pundit has tipped the Magpies to leave Manchester with all three points given how they have performed in recent games.

“I said before Christmas that I thought Newcastle would hit their stride and they have done exactly that,” Sutton wrote in his latest prediction column.

“The way they are playing, they should win at Old Trafford and make it four league wins in a row.

“Manchester United’s form is the exact opposite. I am not concerned about Amorim getting the sack but it really does not help when your goalkeeper keeps on conceding goals direct from a corner – that is under-12s stuff.

“I remember it happening when I was watching my son play when he was about 15 and he got done off a corner. I told him you would never see it happen to a professional goalkeeper, but it has happened twice in two weeks to Andre Onana. You could not make it up.”

Man United will be hoping they can turn a corner against Newcastle in their last game of 2024, and their manager Ruben Amorim really could do with a positive result heading into the second half of 2024-25.

However, facing Newcastle has always been tricky for the Red Devils and it will not be any different this time around.

Magpies striker Alexander Isak is presently in the form of his life, with seven goals to his name in his last six appearances, and Man United have to find a way to stop him if they are to get something from the game.
