Liverpool boss Arne Slot has already made Ryan Gravenberch decision ahead of Everton game

Liverpool will be looking to move on from the draw with Newcastle United with a win against Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League this weekend.

Arne Slot’s side beat Manchester City 2-0 at Anfield in the Premier League last weekend and were expected to pick up all three points against Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool, though, had to settle for a 3-3 draw at St. James’ Park, and now they will be focused on beating Everton in the Merseyside derby on Saturday afternoon.

Slot was speaking to the media on Friday afternoon where he named the midfielder who is going to start for sure against Everton.

Ryan Gravenberch has been a regular for Liverpool under Slot this season and has impressed Martin Keown among other pundits. The midfielder started against Newcastle in midweek.

The 22-year-old Netherlands international midfielder was taken off midway through the second half, but Slot has made it clear that he is happy with the youngster and will start him against Everton.

Ryan Gravenberch will start for Liverpool vs Everton

When asked about his decision to take off Gravenberch against Newcastle, Slot said, as quoted in The Liverpool Echo: “We don’t talk about referee decisions after the game with players, it’s no use. Not here or with the players.

“When it comes to Gravenberch, I took him off because in every game he played so well and this game, first half wasn’t his best like the team, this was a game when I felt someone can do the same to rest him a bit.

“He has played so many games already so we were 2-1 down at the moment. He will start tomorrow.”

Ryan Gravenberch is a key player for Liverpool

Gravenberch did not have the best of times under Jurgen Klopp last season, but he is flourishing under Slot for Liverpool this campaign.

The midfielder has given one assist in 14 Premier League matches and has played five times in the UEFA Champions League so far this season.

Gravenberch is only 22 now, so you cannot expect the Netherlands international to be at the top of his game week in and week out.

There will be times when the youngster does not do well. From Slot’s comments, it seems that he will have the Liverpool manager’s backing when he has a dip in form.
