Man United send scouts to watch ‘red-hot’ Samu Aghehowa

Manchester United reportedly sent scouts to watch FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa as he bagged a brace against Boavista days ago, according to the Daily Mail

The Spain international has been in ‘red-hot’ form since joining the Portuguese giants last summer. The 20-year-old has bagged 13 goals and two assists in 13 league appearances this season.

Aghehowa has carried that excellent form into Europe, recording five goals in six Europa League appearances. Two goals came in their epic 3-3 draw with United.

Unsurprisingly, his form has attracted interest from top European clubs as they look to bolster their squad next summer.

The Reds already have Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee on their roster, but they are grossly underperforming. Hojlund has managed only two league goals in 14 appearances, and Zirkzee has not produced better.

The Dutch striker was hauled off after 30 minutes against Newcastle United after another shoddy performance. He is likely on his way out of the club this winter or next summer.

United know they need a proper marksman to lead the line and have Aghehowa on their radar. Manager Ruben Amorim knows all his qualities from his time in the Primeira Liga. He will definitely have an input in whichever striker the club chooses to sign.

Aghehowa showed his qualities while on loan at Alaves last term from Atletico Madrid, bagging nine goals. Even though he missed 19 big chances, his ability to run the channels, press relentlessly, get into good shooting situations, and take shots from these excellent spots showed there was more to come.

He is now dominating the Portuguese top flight and turning Man United heads with his centre-forward play. It remains to be seen if the Reds will make their interest concrete with an offer for the Porto man.

Interestingly, Aghehowa was a target for Chelsea last summer and came close to joining the Blues until they pulled out and opted to sign Joao Felix in a swap deal for Conor Gallagher
