Mohamed Salah could sign new Liverpool deal before the end of the year

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah could sign a new contract at the club before the end of this year.

The 32-year-old winger has a contract at Anfield until the end of the season, and many feared (including the player himself) that he would leave the club for free.

According to a report from Marca, the Egyptian king is close to remaining a Liverpool player for another season.

In recent weeks, Liverpool directors have approached him over signing a contract extension and they have convinced him to stay.

The deal is now close, and an official announcement on the “agreement” can be made before the end of the year.

Marca reports: “In recent weeks, the positions have come closer to such an extent that the agreement could be made official before the end of the year.”

Liverpool need to sort out other contract deals quickly

The Reds winger vented his frustration a few times about the lack of progress over his contract situation, but what has been admirable is that he has not let it affect his performance at all.

Salah is Liverpool’s top scorer in the Premier League with 13 goals. He has also provided nine assists.

In the Champions League, the Reds winger has managed two goals and four assists.

An official confirmation could come out of the blue, and needless to say, when that happens, the Reds fan base will go crazy because they love and adore him.

Now that Liverpool are confident Salah will commit to his future at the club before the end of the year, the club must shift their focus to securing deals for Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold as well.

Van Dijk is reminding everyone that he is still one of the best defenders in the world, and the 33-year-old deserves a contract extension. He is still fit enough to continue for another two years at a high level, and his contract extension is now a priority.

Alexander-Arnold has kept his contract talks private, and there are suggestions that he could move to Real Madrid in the summer.
