Neil McCann raves about Cyriel Dessers in Rangers 1-1 Tottenham

Rangers secured a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday in the Europa League at Ibrox.

The Gers were undoubtedly the better side of the two, and had they been more clinical, the scoreline could have easily been different.

It was a really strong performance from Rangers, and every single player stood up to the challenge.

Towards the end of the game, Cyriel Dessers came very close to securing all three points for the Bears, but his effort was brilliantly saved by Spurs goalie Fraser Forster.

It was an incredible effort from Dessers, skipping past Spurs players inside the box with some silky skills. All he needed was to beat Forster from close range but he failed to rattle the nets.

Pundits left stunned by Cyriel Dessers effort

Neil McCann was left stunned by the passage of play, and the popular BBC pundit hailed Dessers as “outstanding”.

He said: “Oh my goodness. Wow. His play is absolutely outstanding, the flick, then another, and I’m just looking for him to hit the back of the net.

“I’m expecting the net to bulge and then Forster comes up with another big save.”

Ally McCoist was also left stunned by the save, but he added that Dessers should have hit the target.

The Gers legend said: “I cannot believe that. What a save! He does brilliantly, works his socks off, what a big save. He must score goal but take nothing away from the save.”

Hamza Igamane scored a beauty in the second half to put Rangers ahead after he volleyed home from a magnificent pass from James Tavernier.

The Gers skipper has come under strong criticism this season, but this performance will silence his critics.

A moment of brilliance from Dejan Kulusevski brought Spurs back into the game, but Philippe Clement should be proud of this performance.

In the end, it was a great spectacle and a breathless encounter at Ibrox. Both Rangers and Spurs are now on 11 points with two fixtures each remaining.
