Nottingham Forest look to secure bargain deal for League One midfielder Thelo Aasgaard

Nottingham Forest produced an excellent display on Saturday to beat Manchester United 3-2 at Old Trafford for the first time in 30 years.

The Tricky Trees came into the away fixture on the back of a demoralising 3-0 thrashing to Manchester City. But they returned to winning ways at the expense of United, courtesy of goals from Nikola Milenkovic, Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood.

Forest have moved to fifth in the Premier League standings after Saturday’s victory, with the West Bridgford outfit having secured 25 points from 15 matches.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will want to continue their momentum in the second-half of the season, and so they may look to add some fresh faces to the squad in the January transfer window.

According to reputed journalist Alan Nixon, Forest are interested in signing Wigan Athletic star Thelo Aasgaard.

The Premier League club could make a move for the 22-year-old, who is said to be available to sign for around £3 million.

Aasgaard has been impressive for the Latics this campaign, scoring five goals in 18 League One appearances.

He has been at the club since 2020 and has made over 150 senior appearances, with 25 goals to his name.

Aasgaard could be a shrewd addition for Forest, as he could be brought in for only £3m.

The attacking midfielder is still young and has been a shining light in League One.

But he could struggle for game time at Forest as they already have a top playmaker in Morgan Gibbs-White.
