Paris Saint-Germain have joined Arsenal in the pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, while there could be interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid in the Sweden international, according to the Sun.
The St. James’ Park club are expected to demand more than £150 million from suitors for the services of the 25-year-old, and interest from the bigwigs could kick off a bidding war and drive his fee towards a world record number.
Liverpool could also look at the Newcastle star as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah if the Egypt international forward ends up leaving as a free agent at the end of the season.
Isak still has three and a half years left on his contract with the Magpies, and while he is prepared to remain with the club, they have to qualify for the Champions League next season for him to consider staying.
He has 11 goals and four assists in 16 Premier League games so far in 2024-25, and more suitors could join the aforementioned quintet in the pursuit of his services at the end of the season.
Newcastle will get at least £100m for Isak should they be left with no choice but to sell him in the summer, but talks to hand him an extension could resume in the coming months after they were placed on hold.
The Toons are currently seventh in the Premier League table after 18 games, with six points between them and the top-four, and finishing in the European places is still feasible as the second half of the campaign begins.
Newcastle will be desperate to hold on to such an influential player going forward as they look to become regular top-four challengers, but the chance to join the likes of PSG, Real Madrid or Barca could be too much for him to turn down.
