Crystal Palace have now maintained their unbeaten run to four games after securing a 2-2 draw against Manchester City at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Eagles took the lead twice, but City found a way to respond. Oliver Glasner said after the game that while he was pleased with the draw, Palace could have won the game.
Daniel Munoz and Maxence Lacroix scored for the Eagles, but they also squandered many gilt-edged chances.
Will Hughes, who was simply outstanding against City, whipped in a great cross, and Lacroix scored with a simple header to make it 2-1. It was his first goal for his new club.
Paul Merson was unhappy with City’s defence and branded it as “shocking” while describing the goal.
Speaking on Soccer Saturday, the popular football pundit said: “It is a free header from Lacroix. Corner gets whipped in. Walker marking him, loses him completely. Four yards out, free header. Manchester City have been shocking.”
Crystal Palace are moving forward after a poor start
Glasner made a terrific impact last season as Palace finished the campaign on a high.
The Eagles boss has said that it was not possible to replicate a similar form as they have lost several key players from last season.
After a poor start to the season, where they dropped into the relegation zone, it felt like Glasner could lose his job, but the Palace hierarchy kept immense faith in him.
Palace had wretched luck with injuries, with Glasner missing several key players, and that hampered their progress at the start of the season.
They have now lost only once in the last eight games, and they are gradually improving. They picked up crucial points against Aston Villa, Newcastle United and now City and have moved to 16th in the table with 13 points.
Palace will face Brighton next in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.
