Tottenham and Newcastle interested in signing Jack Grealish

Manchester City plan to refresh the squad and could sell a few unproductive players on the roster to bolster their coffers. One of the names that might leave the club is Jack Grealish. According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are monitoring Grealish’s situation, and a move for the England international might be on the cards. Once a mercurial forward who ran the game for Aston Villa, his stocks have tanked since he joined Man City for £100 million, with Pep Guardiola’s system limiting his influence on the game. Grealish was the maverick that ran the show, but he is now parked out wide and struggling to make an impact. Grealish has not scored a goal this season. He has not scored a goal in 45 matches across 2024. He desperately needs a new environment to revive his career, and North London might be the perfect landing spot. Tottenham could use a replacement for Son Heung-min, whose sharp decline this season has been palpable. It does not help that manager Ange Postecoglou has run him into the ground, using him relentlessly. Wilson Odobert was meant to be Son’s successor, but the former Burnley attacker has spent most of the season on the doctor’s table. Grealish can rediscover his groove under Postecoglou’s gung-ho approach. A new lease of life on the flank might just be what he needs right now. Meanwhile, Newcastle could sell one of Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes to stay in line with the Premier League’s financial fair play rules. The former had solid interest from Liverpool over the summer, and the Reds could return for him soon. Also, Barnes is keen on more playing time and looking for an escape route from St. James’ Park. Grealish might be less of a fit for Eddie Howe’s hard-running style, but if the team rallies around him, he can be another difference-maker in the final third.
