Tottenham Hotspur should focus on signing Paris Saint-Germain star Milan Skriniar in January to ease their central defensive concerns.
Spurs have had a dismal Premier League campaign, and they are presently 11th in the standings with just 24 points from 19 games played.
Manager Ange Postecoglou will want to strengthen his backline next month with the injury woes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
The centre-back duo are anticipated to return in the coming weeks, but Postecoglou needs someone more experienced to provide cover.
Gazzetta dello Sport recently reported that Tottenham are interested in signing Skriniar from Paris Saint-Germain.
In our opinion, the former Inter Milan star would be a superb acquisition for Spurs during the winter transfer window.
Skriniar could transform Spurs’ fortunes at the back
Tottenham have had bad fortune with injuries this term. They are currently without three centre-back options in Romero, Van de Ven and Ben Davies.
Radu Dragusin is the only fit central defender in the squad. The Romanian has struggled to provide consistency alongside a makeshift partner in Archie Gray.
Spurs desperately need more leadership in the backline. Skriniar would be a fabulous signing. He previously captained Inter before he decided to join PSG.
The 29-year-old is a strong ball-playing defender, and has completed 97 percent of his passes in Ligue 1 this season.
Skriniar has also won 61 percent of his duels with five recoveries, 2.8 clearances and 1.4 tackles won on average.
He would instantly transform Spurs with his defensive qualities. His arrival would allow Postecoglou to ease Romero and Van de Van back into first-team action.
The £12.4 million-rated star could also be tempted to join the club for regular playing time, having managed just five appearances in Ligue 1 in the current season.
Spurs should propose a loan deal with an option to buy next summer so that they can assess whether the Slovakian can adapt to the demands of the Premier League.
