Wrexham are interested in signing Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford during the January transfer window, according to the Sun.
Offloading the 31-year-old from their wage bill is a priority for the Elland Road club due to his high salary and limited playing time, with his wages representing a significant financial burden.
Bamford has played in just eight Championship games this term, with no goals or assists to his name.
Joining the League One club could appeal to the Leeds star given that he is out of favour under manager Daniel Farke and has yet to start a league game this season, playing just 102 minutes across his substitute appearances.
Wrexham are confident they will be able to get a deal for Bamford over the line next month, with a loan deal which would include an option to buy expected to be included in it.
While his wages will likely impact the structure at the club, celebrity owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will have to step in to help land the striker.
The Welsh club believe a striker like Bamford can help them achieve promotion and establish them in the Championship, but they will need guarantees over his availability after his struggles to establish himself as a regular under Farke.
The Red Dragons are currently third in the league table after 21 games, but they have dropped points nine times and will need to improve significantly going forward to seal automatic promotion.
They could do with more attacking firepower heading into the second half of 2024-25, and Bamford has the experience and quality, with 60 goals and 22 assists to his name in 196 appearances for Leeds.
He has proven his quality across League One, Championship and Premier League, and landing him would be huge for Wrexham in their bid to reach the top of English football in the coming seasons.
