Arsenal’s stance on Gabriel Jesus’ future is very sensible

Arsenal are reportedly ready to sell Gabriel Jesus at the end of the season.

According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal will listen to offers for Jesus in the summer of 2025.

It is a very sensible idea. The North London club need to offload the Brazil international striker and invest that money into bringing in a proper number nine.

Jesus is a good forward, but he is not clinical. The 27-year-old striker did not score too many goals at Manchester City, and he has failed to step up at Arsenal.

While the striker won the Premier League title four times with City, he scored just 95 goals in 236 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens.

Jesus has scored seven goals and given two assists in 26 matches in all competitions for Arsenal so far this season.

During the 2023-24 campaign, the £120,000-a-week (SalarySport) 27-year-old striker found the back of the net eight times and provided eight assists in 36 appearances.

Yes, there have been injury problems for Jesus, but even when fit and available, he has failed to dislodge Kai Havertz from the starting line-up. And Havertz is not even a natural centre-forward.

If Arsenal are to win the Premier League title anytime soon, then they have to sign a lethal striker who is clinical and will bang in the goals for fun.

Just look at Liverpool. True, Mohamed Salah is not a ‘striker’, but he is a world-class forward who scores goals for fun. He wants to score goals.

Manchester City have Erling Haaland. Even though he is not having a particularly great season, the Norway international striker has found the back of the net 16 times in 20 Premier League games and could end up becoming the top scorer in the English top flight yet again.

For Mikel Arteta to lead Arsenal to Premier League title success in the near future, he will have to sign a top-quality striker, someone who is miles better than Jesus.
