Celtic continue negotiations to sign Sondre Ørjasæter

Celtic have submitted an opening offer to sign Sarpsborg winger Sondre Ørjasæter in the January transfer window, but it was immediately rejected.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his attacking areas, and the Bhoys have earmarked the 21-year-old as a major target.

According to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, Celtic submitted an opening bid in the region of £4.6 million for the winger, but the Norwegian club are demanding a fee of around £7m. This means the Hoops will have to pay £2.4m more to sign Ørjasæter.

Sarpsborg are trying to resist bids for their highly-rated attacker, but Celtic are pushing hard to reach an agreement. Both sides are still continuing negotiations.

Hampus Andersson, Sarpsborg’s Sporting Director, told Sky Sports this week“Sondre is and has been a highly valued player for us.

“Our main goal is to not sell him this window and keep him for at least to the end of the season.”

However, if Celtic meet their asking price, it will become difficult for Sarpsborg to keep hold of Ørjasæter. And the Bhoys should be able to match that figure.

Celtic are looking to be busy in the closing stages of the window

The Bhoys have reached an agreement with Arsenal to bring back Kieran Tierney back to Celtic Park in the summer.

Celtic wanted to bring Tierney on loan this month, but Arsenal are reluctant to send him away despite the fact they have enough depth in the left-back areas.

Alex Valle has left the club after his loan deal terminated, which means Greg Taylor remains their last recognised left-back.

According to the Daily Mail, Celtic want to sign Tyrell Malacia from Manchester United on loan. The Red Devils are also willing to listen to proposals for the 25-year-old after wrapping up a deal for Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu.
