Celtic suffered a 3-0 defeat against Rangers in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox on Thursday afternoon.
The Bhoys conceded early inside the opening seven minutes when Ianis Hagi scored from long range.
Celtic were thoroughly outplayed in the first half, and their midfield was nearly non-existent.
The Hoops tried to come up with a positive intent in the second half but couldn’t match the intensity of their rivals.
It was an embarrassing defeat for Brendan Rodgers’s side, and no players really stepped up for this big game.
Here, Sports View have rated the Celtic players out of 10 for their performances at Selhurst Park.
Kasper Schmeichel – 5
The Dane was taken by surprise as he failed to save Hagi’s long-range effort. It wasn’t a fierce strike, but he was possibly unsighted and acted late as a result. He made a few good saves in the second half but couldn’t do anything with the second goal or the third goal.
Alistair Johnston – 5
The Bhoys right-back made a poor challenge on Hagi in the first half. Grew more in confidence and played out some good passes.
Cameron Carter-Vickers – 6
Arguably, Celtic’s best player in the first half. He made one very good run with the ball and denied Mohamed Diomande inside the box with a perfectly timed tackle. Could he have done better with his positioning for the second goal?
Liam Scales – 3
Poor. Terrible. Catastrophic. The defender struggled to play out the ball from the back whenever Rangers players hurried on to him in packs, leading him to make mistakes.
Greg Taylor – 5
Usually solid at the back and did a decent job against Vaclav Cerny and Ridvan Yilmaz. Taken off in the second half.
Reo Hatate – 5
Industrious. He had an effort saved towards the end of the first half. Collectively, Celtic midfield trio were very poor in the opening 45 minutes.
Callum McGregor – 5
Very poor in the first half. Picked up a yellow card and had a go at Nicolas Raskin towards the end of the half. He was lucky that he didn’t pick another card. That would have been catastrophic.
Paulo Bernardo – 5
Tidy with his passing and very smart with his movements as well. Much better in the second half but taken off in the 64th minute.
Nicolas Kuhn – 5
He couldn’t influence the game at all. He was not on the same wavelength as Johnston and was ineffective from the right-hand side.
Kyogo Furuhashi – 5
The Japanese striker came close to opening the scoring for Celtic in the opening two minutes, but apart from that, he didn’t do enough in the opening 45 minutes.
Nearly scored a sublime goal, but it was ruled offside. Taken off in the second half.
Daizen Maeda – 4
He troubled Rangers in the past. In the first half, he was largely anonymous and apart from one long-range strike from distance, he didn’t do enough. The same trend continued in the second half.
