Chelsea must pursue a move for Alejandro Garnacho, he would be perfect for the Blues – View

Chelsea are reportedly on the prowl for new additions in the January transfer window. The Blues are considering offensive players as they look to bolster their forward line, even though most fans would rather they bring a top-class defender.

Goals are the currency of the game, and Chelsea would like to add more to their offensive arsenal. The West Londoners have been linked with several moves already.

Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is on Chelsea’s radar, and there were surprising links to Kobbie Maino earlier today with Manchester United looking to sell players for pure profit due to financial fair play.

However, Chelsea don’t need midfield additions and will be better served signing United forward Alejandro Garnacho, who is also on the chopping block at Old Trafford. The Blues need his profile more.

Chelsea have many playmakers on the flanks, like Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Jadon Sancho, and Pedro Neto, but they need a different profile – someone who can score goals – and Garnacho fits the bill.

Criticised for his overall play, the Madrid-born attacker still has eight goals and five assists in 1554 minutes of football across all competitions this term.

Garnacho has more goals than all the Chelsea attackers listed above. He would be Chelsea’s fourth-highest goalscorer this season with those numbers.

The 20-year-old has been criticised for his poor decision-making in the final third, and rightly so. However, it is worth remembering that he still has years of development ahead of him. He was thrown into the first team due to Marcus Rashford’s poor showings and should be behind a more experienced forward in the pecking order.

At Chelsea, he can develop a lot playing behind Sancho and learn from the many technicians around him.

Signing Garnacho would be a statement of intent, not just for the immediate future but for the long term. While the Argentine international still has room for growth, his knack for finding the back of the net is exactly what the Blues need to address their attacking woes.

With a strong foundation of creative talent already in place, adding a direct and dynamic goalscorer like Garnacho could bring the balance Chelsea have been missing in their forward line.

His youthful exuberance, the guidance of seasoned players, and a stable system could unlock his true potential at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea must prioritise Garnacho this January.
