Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a shock move for Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho before the January window slams shut.
French outlet L’Equipe claims Garnacho is high on Chelsea’s wishlist, alongside Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, as the Blues gear up for significant late-window moves.
With Stamford Bridge anticipating departures, including Axel Disasi and Christopher Nkunku, Chelsea are preparing to bolster their attacking ranks.
There hasn’t been any takers on Disasi yet, but Nkunku has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
Garnacho is one of several names on Chelsea’s extensive shortlist, but the London club aren’t alone in their pursuit.
Napoli are also reportedly keen on Garnacho, viewing him as a potential replacement for Paris Saint-Germain-bound Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly considering a summer move for Adeyemi. The Blues are long-term admirers of the German striker but are yet to formalise their interest.
United are struggling to get their finances in order, and multiple reports have claimed that they could entertain offers for young talents like Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo to balance the books.
Interestingly, Mainoo has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.
If United cash in on at least one of their academy graduates, it could free up funds for manager Ruben Amorim to reshape his squad.
The Athletic reporter David Ornstein has confirmed that Chelsea have made enquiries about Garnacho but claimed the Blues also have their sights on Adeyemi’s Dortmund teammate Jamie Gittens.
Gittens has been in phenomenal form for Der BVB this season, notching 11 goals and five assists in 25 games across all competitions.
His performances have also drawn interest from Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, who are in the market for attacking reinforcement.
If Bayern get to Gittens before Chelsea, it could pave the way for the Blues to swoop in for January target Mathys Tel.
So far, Chelsea are yet to act on their interest in Tel as he wants to remain at Bayern, but his decision could impact the German club’s move for Nkunku.
