Crystal Palace are expected to remain busy in the January transfer window as Oliver Glasner wants to bring in some new faces to Selhurst Park.
The Eagles have scored only 21 goals this season, and they are looking to add quality players in their attacking areas in the winter transfer window.
According to a report from The Guardian, Palace “have considered” making an offer for Lyon attacker Rayan Cherki this month.
The 21-year-old is seen as a quality young winger who is known for his terrific dribbling skills. Frank Leboeuf has hailed him as an “unbelievable” player, and Lyon could be willing to offload him due to their financial situation.
Palace could face competition from Serie A club Atalanta to sign Cherki. The Eagles will need to pay around £15 million to secure his signature.
Cherki has been frequently linked with a move to Selhurst Park, and Palace see him as their “missing link”.
Crystal Palace transfers: cheaper option than Ben Doak
The attacking midfielder, who can play across all positions upfront, has been in great form this season. He has scored three goals and provided three assists in Ligue 1, and has been involved in six goals in the Europa League.
Palace are also showing keen interest in signing Liverpool youngster Ben Doak, who is currently on loan at Middlesbrough.
The 19-year-old has been outstanding this season, and Palace want to sign him permanently. Liverpool rate the youngster highly and are demanding a fee of around £30m for him.
The Eagles have had a bid rejected for the player already in the region of £15m, and they are looking to come up with another bid in the coming days.
The Guardian claim that the new bid will be around £20m. It is not clear whether Liverpool will accept that amount as they are under no pressure to sell Doak.
In such a scenario, Palace should focus on signing Cherki, as he would be a cheaper option than the Scottish winger.
