Crystal Palace make first move to sign Romain Esse

Crystal Palace are actively looking to bring in some new players to Selhurst Park in the January window, and they have been linked with a host of attackers already.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Eagles remain interested in signing Millwall gem Romain Esse. The interest in the teenager is strong and concrete.

The Evening Standard claim that Palace have already made a formal approach to sign the 19-year-old attacker. They have made contact with Millwall over a possible January deal for the player.

Discussions have taken place on whether Esse will be sent back to Millwall on loan for the rest of the season, but Palace want players who can make an impact now as Oliver Glasner is keen to bolster his squad.

According to BBC journalist Alex Howellthere is interest from multiple clubs in Esse who signed a new deal with the Lions in August.

Esse has a release clause in his contract, and Palace need to trigger that amount to sign the attacker, but the value is not disclosed.

The England U20 international has five goals and one assist in 25 games in all competitions for Millwall so far this season.

Other potential targets for Crystal Palace

Esse is not the only player Palace are looking to sign in the winter market.

The Eagles have been heavily linked with a move for Liverpool kid Ben Doak, who is enjoying a terrific 2024/25 campaign on loan at Middlesbrough.

Palace have had a bid rejected for the young attacker already, but they are reportedly ready to make another attempt to bring him to the London club. Liverpool have set an asking price of £30 million for Doak as they rate him highly.

According to the Guardian, Palace have also considered making a formal move for Lyon winger Rayan Cherki. The dazzling winger would cost around £15m, and he is being targeted by Serie A club Atalanta.
