Everton are eyeing a move for Juventus winger Timothy Weah in the January transfer window, according to a report from Calciomercato.
David Moyes picked up his first league after joining the Toffees as they won 3-2 against Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park on Sunday.
It is a massive victory for Everton, and now the Friedkin Group must help Moyes with funds to bring in some new players in the January window.
The report from Italy claims that the Toffees have made an approach to sign the 24-year-old right-winger who can also play as a right-back and also across all positions up front.
He is enjoying “one of the best seasons of his career” under Thiago Motta, and several clubs including Everton are keeping a close eye on him.
Everton could face competition from the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig to sign the 42-times capped USA international.
Weah has scored five goals and provided four assists in 25 games for Juventus, and he would be a terrific addition for the Toffees.
With the new owners (who also own AS Roma) at the helm, one could expect more players from the Serie A to get linked with Everton in the transfer market. However, it would require a really good offer from Everton to tempt Juventus into negotiating a deal for him.
Also, Moyes needs to convince Weah to move to Goodison Park ahead of other suitors, which won’t be an easy task.
Everton have several players who are approaching the end of their contract, and the Toffees need to make their decisions quickly.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin finally scored for the Toffees last week against Spurs, and he should be aiming to increase his goal tally and make a point to the owners that he deserves a new deal at the club.
Everton appear to be serious about signing Weah as they have made a move already.
