Fenerbahce eye move for Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos

Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos is being wanted by Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the January transfer window, according to Kaveh Solhekol.

The Sky Sports journalist claims that Fenerbahce are willing to pay in the region of £10 million to sign the 31-year-old defender this month.

Carlos, who is on £100k-per-week wages, has made eight starts in the Premier League this season, and a further two appearances have come from the bench.

Villa were initially open to listening to offers for Carlos, but they might keep the defender with them following the injury suffered by Pau Torres.

The Spain international is set to miss two months of action, and Unai Emery may not be keen to lose Carlos, although Villa have Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa as other options.

Kosta Nedeljkovic will likely leave on loan this month, which means Villa can afford to keep Carlos with them unless they receive a tempting offer.

Aston Villa expected to remain busy this month

Villa are eighth in the Premier League at the moment, only four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

The Villans must believe that they can finish in the top four this season once again, but for that, more consistency is required.

Villa are expected to remain busy once again in the transfer market, and there could be lots of ins and outs.

Emery is looking to sign a new right-back this month to provide competition for Matty Cash, and Villa have earmarked Celta Vigo defender Oscar Mingueza as a potential option.

The Villa boss is also looking to add depth in the forward areas. They have Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran vying for the number nine position, but the club have still made a bid for Borussia Dortmund attacker Donyell Malen as they look to sign the Holland international this month.

Meanwhile, Lewis Dobbin has joined Norwich City on loan, while Jaden Philogene could be allowed to leave, with Ipswich Town interested.
