West Ham United suffered a 5-0 thrashing against Liverpool last weekend in the Premier League.
The Hammers produced an awful display in front of their home supporters and deservedly lost by a heavy margin.
West Ham will now be looking to bounce back with a positive result on Sunday, but face a huge test against Manchester City who returned to winning ways against Leicester City in their last outing.
Predicted West Ham XI vs Manchester City
Alphonse Areola made some big saves against Liverpool, though he was beaten far too easily for at least two of their goals. The 31-year-old will be hoping for an improved display in Sunday’s game at the Etihad Stadium.
In front of the Frenchman, we are anticipating at least two changes. Vladimir Coufal and Konstantinos Mavrapanos were disappointing with their performances against the Reds, and the duo should make way for Emerson and Jean Clair-Todbio in defence.
Tomas Soucek returns from a one-game suspension and should slot straight back into midfield. But Lopetegui is expected to axe ‘combative’ midfielder Edson Alvarez, who won just one of his six duels and lost the ball on four occasions against Liverpool.
Guido Rodriguez hasn’t been very convincing this campaign, but he could be given an opportunity to prove a point this weekend.
Further forward, Lucas Paqueta will operate as the number 10, with Carlos Soler dropping to the bench. Meanwhile, Mohammed Kudus and Crysencio Summerville should play as the wide forwards.
With Jarrod Bowen ruled out through injury, Niclas Fullkrug should spearhead the West Ham attack against City.
Predicted West Ham XI vs Manchester City
Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson; Soucek, Rodriguez; Kudus, Paqueta, Summerville; Fullkrug
