Man Utd not giving up on Mathys Tel

Manchester United have not given up on their hopes of signing Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Red Devils could be looking to bolster their attacking department in the final few days of the window, especially if Marcus Rashford leaves the club, either on loan or permanently.

Tottenham Hotspur made a concrete attempt to sign the 19-year-old, but the player rejected the move.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the young striker is taking his time to decide on his next move. He will not be included in Bayern’s squad for tomorrow’s game.

The transfer expert says that Man Utd still have a chance to sign him on loan with a buy option.

Florian Plettenberg claims that Bayern were determined to finalize Tel’s transfer to Tottenham today, but the player informed the German club that he would prefer to stay than move to Spurs.

Romano wrote on X: “Understand Mathys Tel’s currently NOT expected to be in Bayern squad for tomorrow’s game.

“French striker still takes time to assess all the options after rejecting Spurs. Loan with buy option can still be a possibility with Man United keen; as well as staying at Bayern.”

Tel wants to join a club where he will get regular game time. United can definitely offer him that opportunity, but whether he fancies a move to Old Trafford remains unclear.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa are interested in signing Rashford on loan before Monday’s deadline.

Villa are looking to sign a new striker after selling Jhon Duran, and Rashford has emerged as one of their options.

Rashford, who is one of United’s highest earners, with a salary in excess of £300,000 a week, has not featured for United since 12 December.

Ruben Amorim has made it clear that the player has not met the standards he demands of his squad, and therefore, his exit cannot be ruled out.
