Manchester City are “actively pushing” to sign three players in the January transfer window, according to a report from Sky Sports.
Pep Guardiola’s side are sixth in the Premier League table, but they are more than capable of getting into the top four this season. The Spaniard feels the need to add a few quality players to their ranks, and they are trying to sign three players.
Bolstering the defence is a priority for City, and they have been linked with a move for Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov.
According to Sky Germany journalist Patrick Berger, City are on the verge of signing the 20-year-old defender.
City have submitted an official bid of a package worth €50 million including bonuses, and as per Fabrizio Romano, a “total green light” has been given for the transfer to go through.
The 20-year-old Uzbekistan international is keen on the move, and it seems it is only a matter of time before City can confirm his signature officially.
Another player who can join Khusanov is Egypt’s superstar forward, Omar Marmoush.
Sky Sports claims that Marmoush has agreed in principle to join City from Eintracht Frankfurt, but negotiations will not be easy with the German club.
The Bundesliga side are hoping for a fee worth as much as £67m (€80m) for the attacker who has seen a meteoric rise since moving to Frankfurt.
He was signed on a free transfer from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023, and it has proved to be a masterstroke signing, even by Frankfurt’s high standards.
He scored 12 goals in his debut season, and has 13 already in 2024/25.. He has been transformed into one of the best players in the Bundesliga, and it does not come as a surprise that City are keen to take him to Etihad Stadium.
City are also in talks to sign Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis.
Palmeiras want Reis to stay until after the Club World Cup, as per Ben Jacobs. The 18-year-old wants to join City, and talks are underway between clubs on add-ons over a €40m package.
