Manchester City are expected to finalise a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush in the next 48 hours, according to Patrick Berger.
The Sky Germany journalist has claimed on X that the deal is expected to be finalized in the range of €70 million fixed and €5-10m in add-ons.
City submitted an initial bid in the region of €65m, but it was not enough. There is optimism from both camps that a deal can be struck, and City are expected to come up with an improved offer shortly.
Marmoush started for Eintracht in the 4-1 victory over Freiburg, where he delivered a scintillating performance. He scored one goal and registered two assists in the match.
The 25-year-old attacker, who can play as a left winger, as a central attacking midfielder or as a striker, has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season for the German side. On top of that, he has registered 11 assists as well.
Berger wrote: “Negotiations are still ongoing between Eintracht Frankfurt and Man City for Omar Marmoush.
“City are now pushing to sign the top striker and finalize the deal within the next 48 hours. The latest offer from Man City was not enough – sources say it was around €65m.
“The deal is expected to be finalized in the range of €70m fixed + €5-10m in add-ons. It seems unlikely that Marmoush will play on Friday vs Dortmund.”
City are looking to make at least two more signings this month apart from Marmoush.
Pep Guardiola’s side have already agreed a deal for Abdukodir Khusanov, who is due to arrive in the UK to complete a £33.5 million transfer from Lens.
The highly-rated defender is likely to be the first signing of this month for Guardiola.
City are also close to signing Brazilian young defender Vitor Reis. He will undergo his medical in the next few days and will become the most expensive centre back from Brazil ever. City will pay €35m fee to sign Reis.
Meanwhile, the Premier League champions suffered a 2-2 draw against Brentford away from home on Tuesday night, and Guardiola was visibly frustrated after the game due to the manner in which his side squandered a two-goal advantage.
