Tottenham Hotspur were linked with Jack Grealish in December 2024, but a new report has suggested that Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou may not be able to sign the winger from Manchester City in the January transfer window.
The Daily Mail reported on December 30 that Tottenham are monitoring the situation of Grealish. The report noted interest in the former Aston Villa star from Newcastle United as well.
Grealish, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, is struggling for playing time at City. The 29-year-old has made only six starts in the Premier League and three starts in the UEFA Champions League so far this season.
However, it seems that City, who won the Premier League title last season, are unlikely to let Grealish leave this month.
A report in The Manchester Evening News published on January 3 has claimed that “the odds for Grealish leaving” City are “extremely low”. Pep Guardiola’s squad have had injury issues this season, and they are unlikely to sanction an exit for the Englishman in the middle of the campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur should revisit Jack Grealish interest in 2025 summer
City are having a torrid season. They are not going to win the Premier League title and may not even get into the top four.
It is hard to see Guardiola willing to sell any of his senior players in January, even someone like Grealish who is essentially a squad player. The City manager needs numbers.
Tottenham, though, could get a chance to sign Grealish in the summer of 2025. City could be receptive to cashing in on the England international, who himself may be tempted to find a new club given that he has never really been one of the regulars in Guardiola’s starting line-up since his move from Villa in 2021.
Grealish has scored 26 goals and given 28 assists in 183 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
