Manchester United are interested in signing Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus in the January transfer window.
That is according to CalcioMercato, which has explained why United could make a move for Vlahovic this month.
CalcioMercato has reported that there is a chance that Marcus Rashford could leave the Red Devils before the transfer window closes.
The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners could sell Joshua Zirkzee as well if head coach Ruben Amorim is able to sign a replacement.
And that could be Vlahovic, who, according to the report, has come “into the sights” of United, who have looked at him “insistently” in the past.
View: Vlahovic would be a better signing than Zirkzee for Man United
Zirkzee has failed to make a huge impact at United since his transfer from Serie A Bologna in the summer of 2024 for £36.5 million (Sky Sports).
It was always a strange decision for the Red Devils to bring in a player from a modest Italian club such as Bologna.
If Zirkzee was really that special, then the likes of Inter Milan, Napoli or AC Milan would have signed him.
True, the Netherlands international forward is still very young at 23, but three goals and one assist in 20 Premier League appearances is a poor return.
Zirkzee is not a natural number nine, Vlahovic is. If United are able to sell the Dutchman and invest that money to bring in the £214,000-a-week (SalarySport) Serbia international striker from Juventus in the January transfer window, then they should do so.
Vlahovic, linked with North London club Arsenal in the past, is a very good striker who scores goals when chances are created for him. The 24-year-old former Fiorentin star has scored 12 goals in 23 matches in all competitions so far this season and scored 18 goals 38 appearances in the last campaign.
