Manchester United’s stance on Alejandro Garnacho’s future

Manchester United could send Alejandro Garnacho out on loan in the January transfer window, according to a report.

The Times have claimed that United could cash in on Garnacho in the middle of the season. A loan exit has been mooted.

The report has added United value the 20-year-old Argentina international winger at £50 million. Some at the Premier League giants, though, have confidence that Garnacho “can make the grade” at Old Trafford.

The Times have noted that Spanish club Atletico Madrid have courted  Garnacho in the past.

Manchester United should not offload Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho has not had the best of times this season, but United need to keep the Argentina international winger. He is only 20 now and has a lot of potential.

Described as a player who is “really fast” and is “good in one against one” by United head coach Ruben Amorim in The Manchester Evening News in December 2024, Garnacho is too young to be written off just yet.

Yes, Garnacho needs to do more. The winger has to make more effort off the ball in matches and needs to help out his teammates defensively.

Garnacho also needs to improve his end product. The Argentine youngster has scored eight goals and given four assists in 28 matches in all competitions for United so far this season. The winger found the back of the net 10 times and gave five assists in 50 competitive appearances for United in the last campaign.

United, who could lose Joshua Zirkzee to Juventus or Napoli in the January transfer window, need to keep hold of Garnacho and allow him to grow and develop.

The youngster could easily find another top club in Europe and flourish there. It would be unwise of the Red Devils, who are unlikely to finish in the Premier League top four, to give up on the winger now.
