Matheus Cunha’s stance on Wolves future amid Arsenal and Manchester United interest

Arsenal and Manchester United could miss out on the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the January transfer window.

That is according to The Sun, which has reported that Cunha would prefer to stay at Wolves this month to join Premier League rivals Arsenal or United.

Premier League giants Arsenal and United are monitoring the versatile forward. Although a move to the Emirates Stadium or Old Trafford is not completely out of the question, the 25-year-old Brazil international, who can operate as a forward, second striker or winger, would prefer to stay at Wolves and sign a new contract until 2029. Talks over a new deal are going on.

Wolves are struggling at the moment. The Wanderers are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with 16 points from 20 matches, level on points with third-from-bottom Ipswich Town.

View: Matheus Cunha should join Arsenal in January

While it is noble that Cunha wants stay at Wolves and help them in their quest to avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season, the forward has to think of himself and cannot turn down the chance to join Arsenal if it presents itself.

The £44 million (The Sun) forward is one of the best players at Wolves and has done well for the Wanderers so far this season.

The Brazil international has scored 10 goals and given four assists in 18 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Wolves so far this season.

Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are aiming to win the Premier League title this season.

Not many players get the chance to move to the Gunners, especially in the middle of the season. If Arsenal come calling, then Cunha should not think twice before making the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
