Oleksandr Zinchenko keen to leave Arsenal as Borussia Dortmund eye move

Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko is keen to leave the club in the January transfer window amid interest from Borussia Dortmund, as per Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Germany journalist claimed on X that the German giants are “exploring” a deal to sign the 28-year-old versatile wing-back.

Dortmund have held “concrete” talks with the player’s representatives in the past few days, and talks are ongoing.

Arsenal are willing to offload him on loan and get rid of his £150k-per-week wages in the January window, with an obligation to buy for a fee of around €20 million.

Dortmund showed interest in the Ukrainian left-back back in the summer window, and they are trying their luck again. This time, they have a better chance of luring him away from the north London club.

Oleksandr Zinchenko should look to leave Arsenal

Zinchenko joined the Gunners from Manchester City in the summer of 2022. He has made 79 appearances for the club in all competitions under Mikel Arteta.

This season, he has struggled for regular games under the Spanish boss, making just seven top-flight appearances and two starts.

Clearly, the left-back has dropped down the pecking order at Arsenal who have loads of options in their left-back areas.

Riccardo Calafiori has cemented his position in the side since joining in the summer. Jurrien Timber and Jakub Kiwior can also play that role, and then they have Kieran Tierney, who is being linked with a move to Celtic.

Myles Lewis-Skelly is also emerging as a first-team regular this season.

Even if Arsenal allow both Tierney and Zinchenko to leave the club, they will have enough depth in their left-back areas.

Zinchecko has entered the final 18 months of his contract, and his departure from the Emirates Stadium looks inevitable.

Arsenal will look to sign a few players in the January window, especially after the injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, and they should look to offload some of their fringe players to make room for new additions.
