Olympiacos join race for Manchester United misfit Antony

Olympiacos are exploring a potential loan move for out-of-favour Manchester United winger Antony, according to Mail Sport.

The Greek top-flight leaders have set their sights on the Brazilian international but will need to fend off competition from European rivals to secure his signature.

Antony was considered one of the finest wingers in Europe until he completed a £85.5 million move from Ajax to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in 2022.

He has since struggled to live up to expectations or recapture the form that earned him a spot in the Brazilian national team.

Antony has made 12 appearances across all competitions this season. Six have come in the Premier League, although he has yet to start a league game for the Red Devils.

Ruben Amorim’s arrival at the Theatre of Dreams hasn’t changed his fortunes, with the 24-year-old largely utilised as a substitute.

Despite his massively underwhelming spell in the Premier League, Antony still has a number of European suitors lining up to offer him an escape route away from United this month.

His agent, Junior Pedroso, recently disclosed that discussions are underway regarding a potential move, although he didn’t reveal which clubs are in the lead.

Pedroso confirmed that “many clubs have approached” him to discuss a potential move for Antony, so there’s “concrete interest” in the Brazilian, although it’s anyone’s guess where he’ll end up this month.

Aside from Olympiacos, Antony has also been linked with a temporary switch to Real Betis. A loan deal could rely on Betis agreeing to pay part of his £150,000 weekly wages.

Meanwhile, United are also fielding interest in Marcus Rashford, who has opened up about his desire to leave the club.

Rashford has also fallen out of favour under Amorim and is reportedly open to a new challenge elsewhere, with AC Milan keen to lure him to Serie A on loan.
