Tottenham Hotspur could move for Evan Ferguson on loan

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking at a variety of positions to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.

While signing a new centre-back could be a priority for Spurs, they could also look to bolster their forward department. Richarlison and Wilson Odobert have struggled with injuries, while Timo Werner has been disappointing on his loan spell.

Ideally, Tottenham want those players back and compete for a place in the side, but they could still be interested in signing Evan Ferguson from Brighton if he is made available on loan in the January window.

According to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, many clubs feel that Brighton could be open to a loan deal until the end of the season. Fulham are interested, and if he is available on loan, Everton and Spurs could also join the race.

The Telegraph reported back in November that Ferguson has dropped down the pecking order under Fabian Hurzeler. He is valued at around £60 million, but interested clubs are more likely to sign him on loan in January.

Difficult for Spurs to lure him away

The Ireland striker has made only two starts in the Premier League this season and has one goal to his name.

He is looking for regular game time and could be tempted to move to another club on a temporary deal this month.

Brighton, however, have no plans to sell him. Danny Welbeck is currently carrying an ankle injury, and they don’t want to further deplete the squad.

Spurs have been very inconsistent this season. They find themselves 11th in the table, three points behind Brighton. Ange Postecoglou has stated many times that he needs support to add more quality to the side.

The north London club have scored 41 goals (only Liverpool have scored more) in the Premier League in 2024/25, and they will be a strong force in terms of attacking when Richarlison and Odobert return from injuries.

Ferguson has loads of Premier League experience, and he is a natural finisher. He could be a good option for Spurs on loan, but it looks really difficult for them to lure him away from the Amex Stadium in January.
