West Ham United are keeping tabs on Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath as they look to bolster their attacking ranks at the London Stadium before the end of the month, according to the Telegraph.
The Hammers have struggled in front of goal so far this term, with the injuries to Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen further dealing a huge blow on their campaign and their chances of finishing in the top half of the table.
West Ham also have Brighton’s Evan Ferguson on their radar, while Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Hwang Hee-chan is also a target, but there is fierce competition for the Republic of Ireland international, and getting the South Korean could be tricky with his club desperate to escape relegation.
A move for Latte Lath will be far from easy as Premier League-chasing Boro will be desperate to hold on to the 26-year-old following his return of nine goals in 22 games this term.
The Ivory Coast international ended last term with 18 goals in 36 appearances, while he notched 16 goals in 34 games in 2022-23 during his loan spell in the Swiss Super League with St. Gallen.
West Ham could do with such a hitman leading their line, but they will need to table a juicy offer to have any chance of landing him during the January transfer window.
Recently dubbed a ‘top top striker’ by his teammate Finn Azaz, a move to the Premier League would appeal to Latte Lath, but remaining with the Riverside Stadium club until the end of the season before making a decision on his future could make more sense for him.
Middlesbrough are still very much in the promotion race, with their manager Michael Carrick insisting last month that the Ivorian is not for sale, and West Ham may need to look elsewhere for the striker manager Julen Lopetegui desperately needs for the second half of the campaign.
