Why Nottingham Forest want to sign Moussa N’Diaye from Anderlecht

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Moussa N’Diaye from Anderlecht in the January transfer window.

That is according to The Mirror Transfer Live blog (10:11am, January 5, 2025), which has stated why Forest are keen on a deal for N’Diaye.

The report has claimed that Forest, who could lose Anthony Elanga to Premier League rivals Newcastle United, find N’Diaye’s versatility very appealing. The 22-year-old defender is a left-back by trade, but he is also able to operate as a centre-back and in multiple systems.

There is one potential problem for Forest, though. Described as a defender who “combines speed and solid aggressiveness with fine technical skills” on Anderlecht’s official website, N’Diaye’s ambition is to go back to Spain, with the report in The Mirror quoting him as saying: “I love the Spanish league. My dream is to return.”

The Mirror, though, has added that N’Diaye is unlikely to baulk at the chance to play for a club in the Premier League. Anderlecht do not want to sell the former Barcelona prospect in the middle of the season, but the Belgian club could have to do so if they get a good offer.

Moussa N’Diaye would be a good signing for Nottingham Forest

N’Diaye is one of the best young left-backs around, and he has done well for Anderlecht so far this season.

The Senegalese youngster has made 16 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League. He has also made four starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League this campaign, providing one assist in the process.

Forest are doing extremely well at the moment. Nuno’s side are third in the Premier League table and are only three points behind second-placed Arsenal, who have played a game more.

With Forest aiming for a UEFA Champions League spot, it would make sense for them to try to sign a player like N’Diaye if they think that he would be able to enhance their chances of being successful this season.

Given that N’Diaye is only 22, not only would the left-back be a signing for now, but he would also be a long-term investment for the club.
