Why West Ham United should not sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United

Marcus Rashford could be on his way out of Manchester United, and there is speculation that West Ham United want to bring the forward to London Stadium.

West Ham have just appointed a new manager. Graham Potter has taken charge of the Hammers and has replaced Julen Lopetegui at the helm.

The London club are having a disappointing campaign. West Ham are only seven points above the Premier League bottom three. Even under Potter, it is unlikely that the Hammers will improve enough to challenge for the European places this season.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has identified Rashford as a potential target in the January transfer window. According to ExWHUEmployee, the Hammers are keen on a deal for the £350,000-a-week forward (ESPN).

Rashford is one of the biggest names in the Premier League, but he has been poor for a while now. West Ham simply have to avoid signing him in the January transfer window, even on a loan deal.

The England international has a lot of experience, but he has not improved or progressed much over the years.

Rashford is not a natural striker. He is better off out wide than down the middle. That Manchester United reportedly want him gone is an indication that he is simply not good enough.

What West Ham need right now is a top striker who would be able to make an immediate impact. After all, the Hammers have scored only 24 goals in 20 Premier League matches this season.

In 287 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career, Rashford has found the back of the net just 87 times. The 27-year-old has scored only four goals in 15 Premier League matches so far this campaign.

West Ham would be better off signing someone else than bringing in Rashford, who is past his prime and will not give anything to the Hammers’ team.
