Celtic produced a heroic performance against Bayern Munich away from home, but their Champions League campaign has come to a heartbreaking end.
The Bhoys were trailing 2-1 from the first leg. They came up with a solid game plan in Munich and didn’t allow Bayern to create enough clear-cut chances.
Celtic, on the other hand, created several opportunities, but their poor finishing let them down. In the second half, the Bhoys took the lead at the hour mark through Nicolas Kuhn.
They were moments away from taking the game to the extra time, but then Alphonso Davies bundled over the line to take them to the knock-out rounds.
Chris Sutton took to X to share his reactions after the game. The Celtic legend said that it was a “bold and brave and disciplined” performance, and the players put in an “outstanding” effort.
However, he felt that the Bhoys didn’t have a strong bench. This is something Brendan Rodgers could try to improve going forward by bringing in more quality players.
The Hoops legend also suggested that he couldn’t understand why the club sold Kyogo Furuhashi in the January transfer window.
That was such a bold and brave and disciplined performance. The only thing which niggles away is Celtic didn’t have a strong enough bench to help the team. I still don’t quite get the Kyogo sale but that’s me being picky on a night to be proud 👏👏🍀

Celtic are out of the competition, but they will return to Glasgow with pride.
It has been a general perception that Celtic are way stronger than others in the Scottish league, but they are nowhere near competing in Europe.
Under the new format, Celtic have shown great signs of progress. They have earned their credibility. There is enough evidence to back up the claim that Celtic are now ready to compete against any team in the world.
Getting a draw away in Munich (one of the toughest environments in European football) is an indication that the team has progressed a lot under Rodgers.
