Liverpool to submit offer for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi

Liverpool are eyeing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as a replacement for Jarell Quansah, according to the Telegraph.

Palace want to sell the Liverpool target this summer as he is entering the final year of his contract. It remains unclear how much the Eagles will demand for him.

They rejected £55 million plus add-ons from Tottenham Hotspur in January, but Liverpool may be unwilling to match that figure.

Liverpool have been trying to sign a new defender for some time. They targeted Leny Yoro last summer but came up short as he moved to Manchester United.

The Reds also wanted to push for Dean Huijsen before he joined Real Madrid. Now, their radar has turned to Guehi, and they will back themselves to get the transfer over the line.

Guehi helped to keep 11 clean sheets in 34 appearances for Palace in the Premier League this season.

He also played a pivotal role as they beat Manchester City in the final to clinch the FA Cup, claiming their first ever major trophy.

The England international centre-back is a staple of the national team’s backline and proved key in the run to the European Championship final last year.

Liverpool will also be pushing for Guehi, who earns £50,000 per week, with an eye on Ibrahima Konate’s situation.

The Frenchman is entering the final year of his contract with the Reds, and Madrid have expressed an interest.

After their ordeal with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool will be wary of losing another defender in his prime. However, the Reds do not have any leverage in the situation.
