Chelsea have stepped up talks with Manchester United to sign winger Alejandro Garnacho (The Athletic).
The Blues have been in contact with United over bringing the Argentine international to Stamford Bridge for some time, and talks have now advanced.
Garnacho reportedly expects to move to Chelsea this summer. Despite coming under fire for his poor decision-making in the final third, Garnacho could be a brilliant signing.
He bagged 11 goals and ten assists for Man United last season, but has fallen out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim.
Using Transfermarkt stats, Garnacho ranks third for goal contributions among Chelsea’s wingers with 38 across 108 appearances.
Only Cole Palmer (48) and Estevao (48) have delivered more goals and assists.
Garnacho could be a star at Chelsea
Garnacho could be a major star in the Premier League.
United have given him almost 100 league appearances to allow him to develop, and Chelsea could capitalise.
Hailed as ‘very brave and very confident’ by former boss Erik ten Hag, he can take the next step towards becoming a world-class player at Chelsea.
Chelsea reportedly did background checks and were satisfied enough to pursue a move for the 21-year-old.
He would provide competition for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens on the left flank, further strengthening the attack.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are sweating on the fitness of defender Levi Colwill, who reportedly picked up an injury in training.
The Blues could enter the transfer market for a replacement.
