Tottenham Hotspur welcome Bournemouth to North London on matchday three, looking to continue their fantastic start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Spurs kicked things off with a thumping 3-0 win against newly promoted Burnley, sending a statement to the rest of the division.
After their historically disastrous 2024/25 campaign, Tottenham came into the season hoping to banish the memories of last season.
They’ve started as they mean to go on and will hope to hit full throttle when they welcome the Cherries to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth didn’t get a fairytale start to the season, but their recent record against Spurs will bolster their confidence ahead of the contest.
The Cherries lost 4-2 to Liverpool on opening day, but they can be proud of their performance after pushing the Premier League champions to the brink.
Matchgoing fans who buy tickets from Seatsnet.com will be hoping to witness another cracking encounter north of the capital.
If both sides come in guns blazing, fans could be in for a riveting occasion.
Match Preview
Tottenham got their campaign off to a flying start courtesy of a brace from Richarlison and a deftly taken finish from Brennan Johnson.
The Thomas Frank era has shown plenty of promise despite their deflating UEFA Super Cup defeat against Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain.
Tottenham were always favourites to get a win against the Clarets, but their subsequent game against Manchester City will be a true test of their ambitions.
If they get a positive result against the Cityzens, they’d be brimming with confidence when Bournemouth visit the capital.
Meanwhile, the Cherries fell to a 4-2 defeat against Liverpool. Antoine Semenyo bagged a brace, but goals from Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, and Mohamed Salah won the game for the Reds.
Bournemouth have a decent record against Tottenham, so they wouldn’t rule out the possibility of extending their unbeaten streak against Spurs.
They first have to worry about Wolverhampton Wanderers, but will have their eyes firmly on the mouth-watering trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Head to Head
Bournemouth have given Spurs plenty of hard times over their past few meetings.
The last time these two faced off, they couldn’t be separated, with both sides settling for a share of the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Cherries went two-nil up in the 65th minute courtesy of goals from Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson on either side of half-time.
However, Spurs fought back to earn a draw through Pape Matar Sarr and a late penalty from club legend Heung-min Son.
Before then, Bournemouth claimed a 1-0 win at the Vitality Stadium, with Dean Huijsen’s 17th-minute effort separating both sides.
Tottenham will be keen to end their two-match winless streak against the Cherries when both sides renew hostilities in North London on August 30.
Andoni Iraola’s side will fancy their chances having won two of their last five games against Tottenham (D1, L2).
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham have made a few additions to Frank’s squad, although there are still a number of holes that need to be plugged.
However, after a strong start to the season, Frank will be hoping to name a strong team with at least two new recruits in the starting line-up.
Guglielmo Vicario will pick up where he left off last season as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. Not much has changed in the rearguard ahead of him.
Frank is expected to line up with a familiar back four of Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Djed Spence, who seems to have usurped Destiny Udogie in the starting line-up.
With James Maddison set to spend the majority of the coming season in the infirmary after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Frank will need to shake up his midfield set-up.
Summer signing Joao Palhinha should make his debut alongside Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr at the base of midfield.
Brennan Johnson should line up on the left flank as he looks to fill the gaping void left by the departure of club legend Heung-min Son, although Mathys Tel will be pushing for a spot in the first team.
Tottenham’s headline addition so far, Kudus, should line up on the right after a few impressive performances, while Richarlison leads the line ahead of Dominic Solanke.
(4-3-3): Vicario; Spence, Van de Ven, Romero, Porro; Sarr, Palhinha, Bentancur; Johnson, Richarlison, Kudus.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth should line up with summer addition Djordje Petrovic in goal after his £25 million move from Chelsea.
So far, the Serbian shot-stopper has struggled to prove a value-for-money addition, but the game against Spurs should give him a chance to endear himself to the club faithful.
Adam Smith and new signing Adrien Truffert should provide the width from full-back, while Marcos Senesi will partner Bafode Diakite at the heart of the defence after Illia Zabarnyi’s exit.
Against Tottenham, Bournemouth need all the cover they can get in midfield. A partnership of Tyler Adam and Hamed Traore should do the trick.
Bournemouth will likely come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a frontline of Antoine Semenyo, Marcus Tavernier, and David Brooks, looking to create chances for Evanilson.
(4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Smith, Senesi, Zabarnyi, Truffert; Adams, Traore; Semenyo, Kluivert, Brooks; Evanilson.
