Arne Slot delivers Liverpool injury news ahead of Aston Villa clash

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has issued an injury update ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa at Anfield.

The Reds are hoping to bounce back from a dismal run of four consecutive Premier League defeats, which has resulted in them dropping to seventh in the Premier League table.

Slot has confirmed that Ryan Gravenberch is in contention to feature against Villa after missing Liverpool’s last three games with an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old returned to first-team training on Thursday, and the Liverpool manager is optimistic that he can play a part in Saturday’s must-win clash against the Villans.

“Ryan trained with us for the first time yesterday,” Slot said in his pre-match press conference. “He will train with us today. Then we are going to make the call if he can start, yes or no.”

Gravenberch is looking forward to Saturday’s outing and hopes to contribute to the team’s success.

“Yes, yes – I feel really confident,” he said during an interview (via the club’s official website). “Yesterday I had a session, today as well. If everything is good, I will be there tomorrow.

He also touched on the importance of getting a result against Villa this weekend.

Liverpool have already broken and set a few records during their losing streak and will be keen to avoid another against Villa.

“Everyone around here, also the fans and us – we need to go back to winning ways,” Gravenberch added.

“It will be a really tough game tomorrow, but we prepared well, and hopefully we can get the win tomorrow.”

Slot also confirmed that Alexander Isak and Curtis Jones are “99.9 percent sure” to be unavailable, while Alisson, Giovanni Leoni and Jeremie Frimpong are long-term absentees.
